This introductory course exposes students to social awareness and interaction. It deals with NSTP Law and its implementation, the youth’s role in national-building, leadership and community service. The students will also be exposed to different government agencies involved in social development. It orients and trains students in programs or activities that contribute to the general welfare and betterment of life for the members of the community or the enhancement of its facilities, especially those devoted to improving health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and moral citizenry (RA No.9163, Section 3d).
At the end of the course, the students must be able to:
1. Demonstrate understanding of the objectives of the common module such as Introduction to NSTP, self-awareness and values development, concepts of leadership; application of good citizenship, drug education, environmental protection, and national security concerns using mother tongue, Filipino and English to facilitate learning.
2. Demonstrate comprehension of the supplemental modules like suffrage and election, health, values development, youth for sustainable development and gender development by applying strategies that develop creative and critical thinking.
3. Demonstrate understanding of the different exercises; develop knowledge, skills and values through the teaching and learning exercises.
4. Demonstrate the acquisition of the sense of volunteerism or community service for community development
